Walk us through your typical day.
As a night owl, early mornings aren’t my favorite. What does make them more bearable is Natalie Cole (my alarm sound) singing one of my favorite songs “This Will Be.” And also that I spent a few minutes at the end of the previous day to plan an agenda, set-up meetings and organize my to-do list for the day. After I review what I pulled together, I check in my with my Account Leader and team to confirm the day’s top priorities and time sensitive tasks. Around noon, I have a quick lunch break, where I try to sit outdoors and enjoy the nature around me. For the rest of the day, I generally have a few meetings with my customer and Point B team. I am a note-taking fiend and find it super helpful to note my action items and stakeholders for various projects. If I have spare time, I love to wrap up my day with a coffee chat – virtual or in-person! And after work, I try to grab dinner and play board games with my best friends – it’s something I look forward to all day!
Being a Point B’er and having other Point B’ers around me naturally make every day an awesome one.
What gets you out of bed in the morning?
What is the hallmark of a great day at work? There are multiple things that fuel my enthusiasm throughout the day. One is knowing I will be contributing to a purpose-driven, positive impact on my customers and Point B communities. Another is wanting to follow in my immigrant parents’ footsteps, in the hope to create a future for myself where, just like them, I am able to accomplish my goals and dreams as a strong, female business leader, particularly knowing that my little sisters look to me as a role model. Lastly, it is the simple but profound realization that time is extremely precious and there’s much in life to learn and explore.
What is the hallmark of a great day at work?
Being a Point B’er and having other Point B’ers around me naturally make every day an awesome one. Regardless, there are a few things that I find a great day consists of. To start, feeling fulfilled through your individual impact on your project work or on the community around you is the one of the most rewarding feelings. I also love making personal, meaningful connections with new Point B’ers while bringing people together. Lastly, taking initiative to lead a new project or aid in a local Dallas-area effort that has a positive impact on the community brings me so much happiness and creates the foundation for an awesome week and month!
Have you discovered any work from home hacks?
Working from home has some unique challenges – sometimes I find it hard to consistently stay energetic and focused. My biggest piece of advice would be to keep moving throughout the day. Change up your work locations. Move from your desk, to the couch, to your patio, or even outdoors at a coffee shop or at a picnic table in the park. Take a walk or a quick movement break and do something fun away from your computer. The change of work locations, activity, and scenery has been my life saver.
Where can we find you outside of work?
I would describe myself as very high energy and adventurous! You may find me trying a new Asian fusion restaurant for lunch and in the evening at Six Flags. I also really enjoy spending my free time reading science literature, playing sports (basketball, cricket), watching movies, eating good food (preferably spicy), baking a new dessert recipe, watching action movies, playing strategy board games (my favorite is Resistance), all while hanging out with my friends and my family.
Why did you join Point B?
I previously worked at a different consulting firm where I realized how dissatisfied I was feeling like I couldn’t bring my full self to work. During my senior year of college, I came across Point B and distinctly remember reading an employee review describing its culture as something “you want to shout from the rooftops.” After diligent research, I’m here at Point B, and can attest to that same feeling of being truly happy. This is because I am surrounded by empowering, empathetic, supportive co-workers and am in an intellectually stimulating work environment where I’m continuously learning. I now constantly find myself shouting Point B’s work and culture experiences “from the rooftops” to my friends, peers, and community!
