How Point B’ers gather, learn, advocate, and move our DEI+J progress forward.
Finding spaces to feel safe, connected, and understood, while building a sense of community is increasingly important for all of us, especially while at work. Our employee-led Business Resource Groups (BRGs) offer associates the opportunity to create communities of advocacy, bring new ideas and opportunities for growth in the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEI+J) space, while showing up as their full, authentic selves to learn from one another on a wide variety of topics, experiences and more.
We checked in with our BRGs to learn more about their community-driven goals, the ways they gather in education and celebration at our firm, and more.
ARISE
ARISE BRG represents Asian, Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Middle Eastern (AAPIME) Point B’ers. Their goal is to create community, visibility, understanding, and belonging for all AAPIME associates, while also providing developmental resources and networking opportunities to AAPIME Point B’ers. In fact the BRG name is an acronym that stands for just this: AAPIME, Represent, Include, Speak Up, Educate. The group extends their impact by hosting educational events and celebratory holiday gatherings to increase understanding of the diversity of AAPIME cultures and experiences, including Lunar New Year and AAPI Heritage Month (May).
“I was pleasantly surprised during my first ARISE meeting by the openness and sincerity of the group participants to discuss work and life common threads that weave together the ARISE community. With every group gathering, my appreciation for ARISE as a safe haven for members to connect, share, provide and find support, and be recognized for their perspectives simply continues to grow. I truly look forward to every ARISE related appointment in my work calendar!”
–Michael Liu, Los Angeles-based Senior Managing Consultant and ARISE member
bAbled
bAbled was created to make space for Point B’ers with disabilities and caregivers of all kinds, to have a community to share experiences, be vulnerable, and feel supported by their co-workers. The group’s goal has always been to be a safe place for those with short-term and long-term disabilities, and caretakers, to gather and share their experiences, while informing Point B’ers firmwide through training and awareness. bAbled has also partnered closely with our People Team to influence policy and processes in support of all Point B’ers. They have hosted educational events discussing health benefits, employee and childhood mental health, and many more. BAbled proudly celebrates the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (July 26) and Disability Employment Awareness Month (October).
Black Employee Network
The Black Employee Network is dedicated to the cultivation and empowerment of Black leaders at Point B and beyond. They are a community of allies and Black professionals who are committed to fostering a healthy work environment that promotes empowerment, celebrates cultural diversity, and fosters inclusivity for Black professionals to achieve and succeed at our firm. The group’s impact is felt deeply through educational events during Black History Month (February) in addition to celebrations (think: cookouts and trivia nights) and days of reflection for Juneteenth (June 20).
“Being involved with BEN at Point B gives me a sense of greater community. It allows for me to have a sounding board to issues I face and need another set of ears on. BEN provides me the opportunity to share and celebrate my culture and background with others, not strictly in an educational form. BEN provides me guidance and support when I need it most,”
-Lee Clinton, Chicago-based Senior Analyst and BEN member
bProud
The bProud BRG is a place for LGBTQIA+ Point B’ers and allies to have a safe, inclusive space to thrive both personally and professionally. The group is dedicated to recognizing and sharing the experiences of the LGBTQIA+ community, offering networking opportunities with Point B’ers and external organizations, and educating the broader Point B community about LGBTQIA+ history and more. The group has hosted educational events in collaboration with other BRGs, as well as LGBTQIA+ professionals in a wide variety of industries, and celebrates PRIDE (June), Trans Visibility Day (March 21), and International Pronouns Day (October 19) every year.
“Being in bProud has provided me with some great professional relationships. I have always appreciated the space that bProud provides to me to be myself and know that I will be met with nothing but support from my peers.”
– Steve Mortenson, New York-based Senior Consultant and bProud Leader
People of Color
People of Color is aiming to create a safe place for people of color to gather and create community, elevate their voices to leadership, and support company-wide Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEI+J)initiatives. The group has strived for DEI+J progress by writing and open letter to leadership, which gave members a chance to be heard and share their thoughts about opportunities for better representation within leadership. They also hosted a company-wide panel/discussion event celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and have used the holiday as a chance to reflect and educate Point B’ers and beyond. They are proud to celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day each year and continue their DEI+J missions and commitments.
Point Bravo
Point Bravo is a community of military veterans, military spouses, and allies at Point B. The group is committed to recognizing and honoring the service of veterans and military spouses by creating a space to share experiences and be vulnerable, while also supporting the successful transition of military members and their families from active duty to civilian life, increase awareness of the unique challenges veterans face, and empower employers to realize the full potential of veterans. The group successfully helped transition Point B’s first Skillbridge intern in 2022. The group has hosted a long list of educational events where veterans and family members share their unique experiences, allowing the greater Point B community to gain awareness on the different branches of the military, different experiences, and more. The group is proud to celebrate Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day every year.
“I want Pont B’ers to know that all associates who join Point Bravo have a voice, a safe space to share, and the opportunity to help, regardless of military status or affiliation. Point Bravo members work diligently, and collaborate continually, to ensure the goals and objectives of the BRG and the values of Point B are exceeded, in all we do.”
– Vincent Tarantino, New York-based Senior Principal and Point Bravo Leader
